Illinois Tax Lien Certificates

Illinois is a great tax lien certificate sale state because of the high interest rates on both land and farm land.

Although tax deed sales aren’t common in Illinois, they are available and are usually referred to as scavenger sales. Tax deed sales or scavenger sale are only held on odd-numbered years and only if enough properties are available for this to take place.

Tax lien sales like most other states are done a competitive county basis, usually during the month of November.

Illinois is probably one of the most popular states for lien certificate sales with a very high interest rate of 36% for full year and 24% on all farm land with a short redemption period of only two years.

The more populated the counties the more competition therefore you must pre-register at least 10days in advance to be eligible for the sale.
