Alabama Tax Lien Certificates

Alabama is a Tax Lien Certificate State and a good one for Tax Lien Certificate Sales.

It is important to know that Tax Deed’s also fall under Alabama’s State Tax Sales. Alabama usually holds tax lien sales in the month of May or June but may vary depending on the county.

The interest rate of all tax lien certificates is 12% with a redemption period of three years.

Alabama also holds tax foreclosure sales, and this is where a Tax Lien can turn into a Tax Deed. This means that if the tax lien certificate is not redeemed during that three year period it becomes or matures to a tax deed. All tax sales are held on a competitive basis depending on the highest bid amount, or overbid and in the end can largely effect the reduction of the interest rate.
